15.
15 days. 360 hours. 21600 minutes. Let the countdown begin until I’m back home again. Soon it will all be over and I will be finding myself trying to adjust back into my old life, style, habits…It seems so weird to me that this year is almost at its end. It seems like just yesterday that I got on the plane to start this exchange year, and now I’m going home and leaving it all behind. Right now I’m...

The Eurotour was absolutely AMAZING!! It started off tiresomely as the Rotary kids from my district took a midnight train to Paris to meet up with all the other 60 exchange students from different parts of France who we would be traveling with. And from there, the next 12 days were perfect. There were tons of Americans, Canadians, and Mexicans, people from all over in South America,Europe,...

Encore les Vacances!!
I think I live in the country with the most vacations, EVER. I now have another 2 and a half week break which I will be spending travelling around Europe. Today I’m off to the train station to pick up a good friend from Germany who will spend the night here  and then tomorrow were going off to Bordeaux (yes, the place for good wines =]) for the weeek. And then the day I come home, will start...

Bonjour =]
Amazing people. Amazing experiences. Amazing life. What can I say, J’adore la France. Everyday I find something new that makes me fall in love with France more and more each day. Whether it is the mild winters, the good food, the fashionable styles, the lack of school or in other words, the increasing of strikes, France has made me discover a whole different culture from the one I’m used to. And...

Hi everyone!! I know it has been a really, really long time since I have last written, but this is the first time in ages where I have had the chance to sit down and write. Anyway, wow!! Soo much has happened in the last month and a half that I don’t know where to begin.        As I mentioned before earlier, one of my good friends from home came to visit me for a week at the end of November. bonjour a tous!
1) Last Saturday night was our second get together with all the Rotary kids from my district! We all had to prepare a dessert from our home country which was to be shared amongst all of us and between our host familes and friends who would arrive later that night. All the kids had to get to the restaurant four hours in advance to help set up and also spend time with our friends. It was soo great...

déjà novembre??
Wow, I can’t believe how quickly time flies by here. I’ve been here for 2 months and a few days already although it seems like I just arrived. Anyways, as I am still on my October break until Thursday I have sometime to update this and tell you about my amazing vacation. Last week my host family and I went to a GORGEOUS town on the Atlantic coast near Bordeaux, called Cap Ferret....

Somehow..
.. I received a 14/20 on my French  written test!! This is a really really good score to get here and I even did better then some people in my class. I probably wouldn’t have done this well without the help of my handy friend, the dictionary, but still I am proud of actually finally receiving a good score! Also, the strikes never seem to stop here in France… there seems to be one or...

It's Mr Pribis (Mrs. P's husband). I am soooooo proud of you - as is the rest of our school, Rotary District and club. Thank you for being such a good ambassador. I made my presentation to UDHS yesterday and I'm sad to say that I don't expect anyone of the students to apply. There were one or two who seemed a bit interested, but one of the girls (not sure of her...

Ohh La La!
Its officially been one month and a day since I’ve been here! Time has really seemed to fly by and I know this year will go by way too quickly for me. Anyways, I’m gonna break this down into sections like some of the other Rotary kid’s did.. ok, here we go! Toulouse: La ville rose could quite possibly be one of my new favorite cities. C’est trop beau!! There is lot’s...

First Rotary Meeting
This past weekend was my first get together with everybody from my Rotary district in France. Everyone living in the Toulouse area all met up at a bus where we would then be picking up some people along the way and finally head towards our final destination, Cahors. In my district, there are about 18 exchange students from all over the world ranging from Japan to Russia to Australia to Mexico,...

Mes Premiers Jours Au Lycee
Sooo school. Thursday was my first day of highscool in my new “lycee”!! It was only for about an hour and a half where they went over rules and regulations that I didn’t understand at all because it was all in french. Hopefully I didn’t miss anything important! =] hahah. However, overall, the day wasn’t too bad and I met alot of nice people so far. School here is soo...

J'aime la France
I’m here! The last few days have been very busy with my new host family showing me around Toulouse and other parts of France so I havn’t been on the computer much. But anyway, the flights here were good but rather long. However, many of the Rotary students from the USA (there were about 60 of us) who were going to France all met up in DC before flying over to Paris and it gave us all a...

One More Day
Post 7: Well here it is. One more full day left in the US. I can’t believe the time has finally come and that I’m actually leaving. Atleast I’m all packed, well almost. I just have to put in a few more things but then I will be DONE!! As of now, I’m bringing two suitcases and a carry on. But let me tell you, it’s hard to leave clothes behind! I slowly worked my way...

Almost There...
Number 6: In one week from tomorrow I will be sitting on the plane to France! Well, not actually.. I have a few connecting flights and some long layovers until I reach my final destination in Toulouse. But hey, it’s basically the same thing, right?  Early next Wednesday morning I fly from PHL Airport to Washington Dullus Airport in D.C. to meet up with all the other American exchange...

And the Countdown Begins...
Post five: In exactly one month from today, on Aug 25, I will be out of here! I can’t believe how quickly time has flown since I first decided to do this, and I’m positive this next month will be even faster. I haven’t officially started to pack yet because I am going on a family vacation to florida and a caribbean cruise for two weeks but after that I really have to crack down....

La Ville Rose
Post four: The city of Toulouse. The 4th largest city in France, Toulouse is known as “La Ville Rose” or “The Pink City” because of all the red brick buildings it boasts. It’s located in the southwest of France, on the Garonne River, and it’s half way between the Med. and Atlantic Oceans. Toulouse has a temperate climate, meaning its a bit warmer than PA in the...

Le Lycée (High School)
Post three: High School. Immediately after I found out what school I would be attending, I searched it on google and I was in for quite a surprise-it was beautiful! Lycée Pierre de Fermat is apparantly one of the oldest and most prestigious schools in Toulouse, the 4th largest city in France, and it’s located right in the center of the town. My host father informed me that I would be in...

Les Familles Accueil (Host Families)
Post number two: Host Families. So where and with who might I be staying with, your asking? Well, an obligation of Rotary is to put me up in somebody’s home for about 3-4 months at a time, meaning I will be living with 3 host families throughout my stay. After finding out I would be going to France, my applications were then sent over there, and it was up to the French Rotarians to place me...

Viva la France!
So here it is, post number one. Only 44 more days until it’s a bon voyage and I jet set 3,810 miles from Fort Washington, PA to my new home in Toulouse, France. What exactly am I doing? Well for one year, I get to leave my family and friends behind and spend my junior year of high school abroad. None of this would be possible without my help through Rotary International Youth Exchange, a...
